Training the Next Generation

In the culture we are living now, we need to not just be trained, but we also need to be well-trained.

Week 1: Training a Winning Generation

  • 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, NKJV, “24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 AMP "16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God’s will, both publicly and privately—behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; 17 so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

  • Why do we need training? Paul gives natural examples to apply spiritual principles.

--> Training focuses on teaching a group or individual how to perform a specific task or replicate the behavior that helps them carry out their day-to-day operations and eventually avoid relying on someone else to assist them.

  • Entitlement weakens people’s drives and abilities. They only think, “I just want to get by.”

  • We do not want to just sit in the crowd, we want to be a special force and be trained. You have to be well-trained so that you can be a trainer to the next generation.

  • Be prepared: spiritually, mentally, physically, technically, financially, and relationally to reap the harvest.

PRAYER POINTS:

  • Pray that we understand and prepare ourselves to be trained well so that the next generation can know God and be well-trained also.

  • Pray that we become disciplined and not become disqualified.

  • Pray that we train in righteousness: learn to live in God’s will, have integrity, and moral courage.

  • Re-read, re-watch, re-listen, and re-digest the Word of God.

  • Pray for a renewal of your mind.

  • Pray to understand and study the culture of the next generation but do not be influenced by them.

  • Pray to bring the Kingdom culture to those we train.

  • Pray to be prepared: spiritually, mentally, physically, technically, financially, and relationally to reap the harvest.

Week 2: Training Generations for “Battles”

  • Starting from the book of Genesis, after Adam fell, the enemy has always been after the seed, which is the next generations after us.

  • In the days of Pharaoh and in the days of Herod, the same spirit is working against the next generation.

  • Revelation 12:4 NKJV “And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”

  • We are the generation facing the battle from different angles: corruption, education, abortion, … etc., the bottom line is, we battle anything against biblical values.

  • Keep in mind in every generation that God is always there in a tangible way and He is raising a remnant of a generation that will never bow to Baal.

PRAYER POINTS:

  • Be aware that the enemy is after the next generation, so pray to secure them in prayer according to their calling and purpose.

  • Pray for a warrior’s mentality; discipline, persistence, and endurance:

    • 2 Timothy 2:4 NASB “No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him.”

  • Pray that we raise the standard and gain insight to know how to equip and train them to wage war against the enemy:

    • 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJV "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

  • Pray that God raises a remnant:

    • Jeremiah 23:3-8 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number.”

  • Pray that God will manifest His presence in a tangible way.

Week 3: God of Generations

  • God’s redemptive plan is not only for us to be saved, but also to continue the legacy towards the next generations. Pastor Paul stated, “I long to see what I’ve said many times to come to pass, ‘My ceiling to be their floor.’” In order for this to happen, we need to train the next generation.

  • Acts 13:36 “David served the Lord in his own generation…”

  • Proverbs 22:6 NKJV "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

  • God is interested not only on you as an individual, but also as a corporate body of Christ to accomplish His purpose on this earth.

  • He is the God of Generations: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

  • Psalm 127:4 NKJVAs arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.”

    • An arrow speaks of the next generation.

PRAYER POINTS:

  • God is the God of the Generations. Pray to pass on the legacy and heritage to the next generation in a deliberate and purposeful manner.

  • Pray that God shows the generations His goodness, that His covenant of love will be made known throughout the earth, and that we can become a blessing.

  • Pray that what is taught and trained through discipleship will not depart from the individuals.

  • Pray that the Word will bear fruit from generation to generation, tying the generations together.

  • Pray that we all serve God in our generation; to stay faithful and fruitful and bringing God’s Kingdom on earth.

Week 4: Synergizing Generations

  • We need to raise up a generation that will go into the court systems, the political systems, into the finance systems, they will go into the military and begin to run the military. That they can get a hold of what God has given them to do.

    • But before you move to the future, you need to honor the past generation (built by the previous generation).

  • Joshua served Moses for 40 years, he then led the people of Israel into the Promised Land (Exodus — Joshua)

  • Elisha served Elijah (1 Kings — 2 Kings)

  • When we combine the wisdom of the older men with the energy of the younger men, there will be great synergy.

  • Each generation reaps the harvest of souls and harvest of resources.

PRAYER POINTS:

  • Pray to raise a generation who will impact the Seven Mountains of Influence: Family, Religion, Education, Media, Entertainment, Business, and Government.

    • Ex: Run for political office, be influential in the financial world, be part of the military and run it

  • Pray over the previous generation and honor them for what they built.

  • Pray we make a long-lasting impact (legacy) through our ministry, servanthood, career, and life path.

  • Pray that we pour out our lives, giving our time, and provide the resources to raise the next generation.

  • Pray that we combine, collaborate, cooperate, and work together to create a synergy to expand God’s Kingdom within the generations.

  • Pray that each generational tier reaps the harvest of souls and harvest of resources.
