    1980’s – 1992

City Blessing Church began in the early 1980s as a small fellowship of Indonesian college students in Los Angeles. Meeting in apartments, they shared a passion for Jesus Christ, were filled with the Holy Spirit, and grew in numbers. After graduation, while some entered the marketplace, others felt the call to full-time ministry, becoming pastors.

The fellowship transitioned into a church, holding its first services in a rented church building at 9642 Live Oak Ave, Temple City, on Friday nights. Over the next decade, members married and started families, prompting the creation of a children’s ministry. As the congregation continued to grow, they rallied together to raise funds for a permanent home. Through prayer and perseverance, they miraculously purchased a building at 735 S Mills Avenue in Claremont—completely debt-free!

In April 1993, the first service in Claremont was held, ushering in two decades of ministry growth. The church expanded its mission beyond Indonesians to people of all nations, locally and globally. An English service was added to serve the second generation and the surrounding Claremont community.

As the congregation grew, other campuses were established.

    • San Bernardino Campus: The first service was held on September 23, 1990 renting a facility of First Assembly of God, San Bernardino. Then this campus quickly grew, with over 100 attendees, then they moved to rent another church and finally they held their service at Victoria SDA, Loma Linda from 1996 until 2021.
    • San Diego Outreach: In the late 1990s, a new outreach began to serve Indonesian college students in San Diego, eventually forming a church community there. San Diego Campus started in 1992
    • Temple City Campus: Established in 1998, services were initially held at a rented facility on Golden West Ave and later moved to Halifax Ave, where English services on Saturday night were also introduced.

By 2010, God gave a clear mandate to consolidate the Claremont and Temple City campuses. After two years of prayer, research, and Godly counsel, a new property in Walnut (between Claremont and Temple City was found), despite numerous challenges, there are a lot of miracles. The new Walnut Campus is located on a private road called Miracle Hill Street. The first service at the new Walnut campus was held on December 31,  2012, fulfilling God’s prophetic promise: “Consolidate. There will be room to build. Land is no problem. There’ll be children’s classrooms and playground.”

  • Today and Beyond

City Blessing Church of Walnut now hosts two Sunday services:

    • Indonesian Service: 8:30 AM
    • English Service: 11:00 AM

The congregation continues to grow in multi-ethnicity and multi-generations, striving to transform cities and communities with the Gospel.

    • San Bernardino Campus: In December 2021, after 25 years of renting, the campus purchased its first church building in Colton, CA. The property includes ample parking, gathering spaces, and an adjacent house that is being renovated for children and youth ministries.
    • Walnut Campus: The project to build for a Training Center that will be dedicated to train the children and youth, was initially discussed in 2013, the first capital campaign fundraising took place in December 2015. The process of designing and getting permits from the City took a very long time until we did the ground breaking in 2019.  In Sep 2023 we started the project and the second Capital Campaign. The Training Center is on track for dedication on August 17, 2025, marking a fulfillment of the prophecy.

    A Legacy of Impact

City Blessing Church’s vision is rooted in “Transforming Our Communities.” Through compassion ministries like City Blessing Outreach (CBO) and the Indonesian Relief Fund (IRF), we’ve provided humanitarian aid locally and globally, touching millions of lives. Our efforts extend into seven spheres of influence—Religion, Education, Family, Business, Government, Arts, and Media—to fulfill God’s call to transform nations.

We praise God for His guidance, and we remain committed to His vision. Let us continue to “Arise and Build,” bringing glory to His Kingdom.
